Wall Art and Wall Decorating Ideas

Bare walls are, well bare, plain, uninteresting. Wall art is a good way to energize your walls and your room. If you like Photographic art, I invite you to browse my portfolio of Fine Art Photography. There you will find something for all taste. Whether you like the nostalgic look of black and white photography or the bright colors of botany and scenic photography, I hope you will find some picture that catches your eye and that you make it part of your Wall Art.

Arranging Wall Art

Hopefully you have selected one or two of my picture as part of your wall art, but even if you didn’t here are some wall decoration ideas on how to arrange your wall art.

Rhythm can be described as being a sense of movement form one object to another (in this case a photograph or painting) and can be determined by the size and spacing of your wall art. You can create a placid rhythm with evenly spaced and sized pictures or a more staccato rhythm by alternating sizes and/or spacing.

Balance is important in arranging wall art. If your arrangement is out of balance it might look top heavy, bottom heavy or be too "weighted" to the left or to the right. The most straightforward way to achieve balance is to us a symmetrical arrangement (both sides equal), but an asymmetrical approach should also be considered. In the asymmetrical illustration at left, the two smaller pictures on the left are balanced by the larger picture on the right.

Grouping your wall art can be very effective in displaying several pictures that have a common theme or subject. The illustration at left shows an arrangement of different sized pictures around a larger picture. This has the effect of framing the main picture while complimenting each other.
